In 2018, the Sugarloaf CID took the lead
in developing a Livable Centers Initiative (LCI) Plan for our district. The LCI program was created by the Atlanta Regional Commission to promote planning for walkable, vibrant places that offer a variety of transportation options.
The LCI plan focuses on opportunities to:
• Create Gwinnett’s Downtown—A mixed use, walkable, active, entertainment district—centered on the Infinite Energy Center
• Create Walkable Destinations
• Connect the Nodes
• Increase Public Spaces—Pocket Parks, Picnic Areas, Plazas
• Create a Sense of Place—Art
• Improve Traffic Flow Alternatives— Walkable, Bikeable
• Enhance Trail Connectivity
• Improve Transit Access
