Sugarloaf CID Celebrates 10 Years of Progress, Partnership, and Investment at Anniversary Celebration

DULUTH, GA, October 15, 2026 — Sugarloaf Community Improvement District (CID) celebrated its 10th anniversary on September 29, 2026 with a gathering of over 130 elected officials, community leaders, property owners, partners and stakeholders at the Gas South Convention Center. The event highlighted a decade of investment, collaboration and progress throughout the district while looking ahead to what’s next.

The celebration included the inaugural Elevation Awards, recognizing 10 property owners, representatives and developers whose investments have helped elevate the Sugarloaf district through new developments, renovations, expansions and enhancements.

Honorees included Simon Property Group, Gwinnett Chamber, Pinnacle Financial Partners, Monaco Hospitality, Brand Properties, Concord Hospitality, Gas South District and Gwinnett County, Cross Pointe Church and ESJ Capital Partners.

Gwinnett County Chairwoman Nicole Love Hendrickson shared remarks about the county’s partnership with the CID, saying, “Over the past 10 years, this district has seen a lot of change. Today, the district is a lot more connected. It’s vibrant. You can feel more of a sense of place, and that didn’t happen by accident. It was very intentional to really create this destination that we enjoy today.”

The event also recognized founding Board Members Brand Morgan and Stan Hall for their commitment to establishing and growing the district, as well as Alyssa Davis, Sugarloaf CID’s first and only Executive Director, for her leadership over the past decade. Dr. Arlene Beckles, Georgia State House of Representatives District 96, presented the CID with a proclamation commemorating its 10th anniversary.

“If you look at the work that we’ve done over the past ten years, what I’m most proud about when it comes to the Sugarloaf CID is the sense of community that we’ve built,” remarked CID Board Chairman Brand Morgan.

A special 10-year anniversary video was also unveiled during the celebration, highlighting the Sugarloaf CID as Gwinnett’s Downtown and the crown jewel of Gwinnett and celebrating the people, partnerships, investments, places and projects that have shaped the district while looking ahead to its continued growth.

The celebration also featured a surprise reveal of the Nicole Love Hendrickson Artway, a future public art project that will transform the stairs connecting the Gwinnett Chamber to Gas South District into a creative public space demonstrating the connection between business and entertainment. This project honors the Chairwoman for her contributions to the art community in Gwinnett. The project, the Nicole Love Hendrickson Artway, is a collaboration between Sugarloaf CID, Gas South District, the Gwinnett Chamber, The Hudgens Center for Art & Learning and Create Gwinnett. Create Gwinnett has issued a Request for Qualifications for artists available at www.creategwinnett.org.

With public art being a key aspect of the Sugarloaf CID, guests were invited to participate in interactive elements through a paint-by-numbers canvas featuring custom artwork that highlighted key elements of the district and were able to share memories from the past decade on a community memory wall.

As Sugarloaf CID enters its next decade, the organization remains focused on strengthening connections, supporting investment and creating a district that continues to grow, evolve and bring people together.
