Artistic Crosswalks

Project Goal

These two sets of artistic crosswalks also serve the CID’s mission to create a more “connected” district, as these crosswalks facilitate multi-modal connections.

  • Satellite Boulevard
    • Artist: Alexandra Sorto
    • In partnership with the Gas South District
    • Artist identified in partnership with The Hudgens Center for Art & Learning
    • CID facilitated Gwinnett County’s relocation and enhancement of the bus stop; these crosswalks connect the new bus stop to the southern entrance of the Gas South District
    • Received a $21,000 grant from The Gwinnett Creativity Fund
  • N. Brown Rd and the Sugarloaf Mills Park & Ride
    • Artist: Krista Jones, aka JONESY
    • Received a $15,000 Placemaking Grant from the Gwinnett Creativity Fund
    • Provides transit linkages to the Sugarloaf Mills Park & Ride and Ride Gwinnett bus service, and also connects to nearby SPLOST sidewalks and staircase, which were projects identified by CID
    • Gwinnett County repaved this segment of N. Brown Rd. before the crosswalk installation, which enhances the durability and visibility of the artistic crosswalk

Project Quick Facts

The CID installed 2 sets of artistic crosswalks, with over 1,600 sq. ft. of preformed thermoplastic material.
