Places that “wow” the community
The CID installed a 37 ft. tall custom stainless-steel sculpture with bespoke walls and lighting at the corner of Sugarloaf Parkway and the I-85 SB exit ramp.

In partnership with the Gas South District, the CID installed the county’s first-performed thermoplastic crosswalks along Satellite Blvd. at the Gas South District entrance. Gwinnett County relocated and upgraded a nearby bus stop to improve transit connections to the area.

At over 21,000 sq. ft., this two-part mural along the I-85 at Sugarloaf Parkway underpass walls is the largest known mural of its kind. The CID completed the North Wall in July 2024 and the South Wall in October 2025.

Improving connections between places
Several transportation projects the CID has been planning for many years began construction
Gwinnett County added new pedestrian improvements around Sugarloaf Mills to improve walkability.
Gwinnett County began utility work for the Sugarloaf Parkway widening this fall.
Collaborative work to improve place
We kicked off the Sugarloaf Small Area Plan, in partnership with Gwinnett County, to update the 2018 LCI Plan that will identify land use recommendations, identify infrastructure improvements, and opportunities for creative placemaking.
Maintaining a safe place
Flock Cameras
The Sugarloaf CID’s 35 Flock Cameras, integrated into Gwinnett’s Situational Awareness and Crime Response Center, continue to assist Gwinnett PD with quickly catching criminals and recovering property.
Sugarloaf Security Meetings
The CID continues to host quarterly Sugarloaf Security Meetings for entertainment and hospitality properties and businesses, with updates from Gwinnett PD and local partners.
Growing the Value of our District
On June 17th, the Gwinnett County Board of Commissioners approved our request to expand the CID by six taxable parcels. The 2025 expansion added $33 million in appraised value to the CID. The addition of these new properties increases the amount of funding the CID can leverage to complete important projects.

Our community has seen a lot of construction this year, including two new hotels, the Holiday Inn Express & Suites and the Element by Westin, and the Constellation Park mixed-use development.
City Express by Marriott Duluth opens in Sugarloaf.
Sugarloaf CID Board Members
2025 elections featured Brian Smith elected as CID Secretary in February; in April, Jerry Queen was elected to Post 1 and Fraser Gough was elected to Post 5. Fraser was also elected to serve as Vice Chairman.
